Meet The Artists
Anne Kocherhans
Anne Kocherhans, co-founder/owner of Aerial Arts of Utah since its inception in 2010, was at first attracted to the art of flying for its striking visual beauty, but soon became enamored with the physical and mental challenge that aerial dance inspires. Anne holds a MFA in Film Studies from the University of Utah, where she produced documentary films locally and abroad. Her current creative endeavor, aerial dance, utilizes Anne’s background in the creation of shows each year, from each annual Flight of Fancy performance, to festivals and corporate shows. In addition to performing, she keeps AAofU’s teaching studio running and she is also a long time hairstylist. Her husband, Malcolm Stewart, is AAofU's valued rigging engineer.

Deborah Eppstein
Deborah Eppstein, co-owner of Aerial Arts of Utah, has had a love of movement since she could walk but her passion for science soon surpassed her early aspirations to be a dancer. She earned a PhD in biochemistry and has been involved in leadership of several biotech companies before retiring from day to day activities. She enjoys sharing her love of science with her daughter Alyssa. Debby has always been physically active, swimming and doing triathlons, and was twice honored by Utah Business Magazine as Utah's Fittest Female Executive. After first seeing aerial dance in 2008, she was enthralled and rapidly embraced the art form, leading to co-founding Aerial Arts of Utah in 2010. She is very appreciative of the support of her husband Mel Halbach, a documentary filmmaker, who often videos their performances. Debby just reached a new milestone, turning 70, which she was told is just 7 perfect 10s!

Adriane Colvin
Adriane Colvin is an amalgamation of the elements, but it is the air she gravitates to the most. Her keen sense of drama is generally left of the stage and is the direct result of her birthright and perhaps the B.A, in Theater she holds from California State University at Long Beach. From an early age she knew dance and movement were in her future. Finding "Flow Arts" later in life, changed everything. In 2004, she founded Fire Muse Circus and as a director, producer and performer she creates a unique form of storytelling, through the use of circus arts. Dancing with Fire, the Air and on the Earth is now the elemental playground on which you can find her. She is deeply honored to be part of the Instructor team at Aerial Arts of Utah and part of "Flight of Fancy" - Cinematic.
Nancy Simpson Carter
Nancy Simpson Carter originally trained as a modern dancer. She has transitioned to performing primarily circus arts in recent years, though her love of Contact Improvisation sometimes peeks through. Her resumé sports a MFA in Modern Dance, Certification in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis and numerous aerial teacher trainings through Nimble Arts. Nancy specializes in lyra and trapeze, but also enjoys bungee, tippy lyra and Acro Yoga. In addition to teaching and performing with Aerial Arts of Utah Nancy runs her own business, Rumble Motion Massage and Movement, in downtown Salt Lake.
